Yes, I'm still alive, amazingly enough. I knew last week was going to be a heffty schedule with Halloween coming up and Bryon and I convincing the boys that homemade costumes, were far better than store bought ones. What was I thinking?! But feeling so much better lately and enjoying the children so much, triggered a desire to make costumes. They are actually my favorite things to sew since you can't make mistakes with them. This is the reason I haven't updated the blog for a few days (not that I'm sure anyone noticed anyway), but it was totally worth it since my Jedis were so extatic about their costumes and will enjoy them for many non-halloween days to come. My sewing was interuppted by the big wrap up project of the space segment Michael's class had due on Wed. So first here are pictures of him in his ever so creative...put off to the last minute astronaut helmet made out of an ice cream bucket. The internet was of NO help to me save it be ONE mere picture leading to a necessity of the use of my creative imagination to pull off this creation. One that I can be of no assistance to anyon in the future for since our camera memory was having issues, so pictures were limited and the desire for the picture of the finished project was of more importance to me. Which means, no helpful tutorials from me either, although if there is interest a tute on the yoda ears can easily be created. (You will see what I mean).
Michael the Astronaut:
Not too bad huh?!
Now Halloween-
Here are the great pix of our adorable 5 youngers:
Jeremy-Obi-Wan-Kanobi
Michael-Anakin Skywalker
Justin-Yoda
Amy-Girl Monkey
Alyssa-Lady bug
(girls' costumes under $6-can you believe it?!)
Halloween being on Sunday this year, our ward held a "trunk-or-treat"
on Saturday night so that the children could still go trick or treating and still honor the Sabbath day
as a day of rest. (trust me, I needed this!)
I took lady bug and Yoda around while...
The love of my life handed out candy to the many treat collectors.
A friend of mine told me I just HAD to see what surprise her Jack-O-Lantern was revealing.
If you look closely...a snail was poking his head out to say "Hello". Who knew!?!
The happy family after gathering the much enjoyed loot.
Of course we are missing a couple family members in these photos. Here is what they were up to...
Homework, Homework, a break, then more HOMEWORK!
Amy's first Halloween! I think she's quite a darling monkey...but then, what would a mother think?
She sure enjoyed Tyler's shoulder ride.
Miss lady was in candy heaven. I'm thinkin' she wasn't the only one...
Jeremy brought his candy to me and asked me to save it for later. Michael and Justin, however...they may have had a candy eating contest. Judging by the wrappers with nothing left inside I later found in the spot where this picture was taken.
A group of Jedis was never so loved as this one. ;-)
I'de say Halloween was a success this year. Wouldn't you?
