What They Say Wednesday

Good Deduction!
(A typical response Tyler makes to an answer somebody gives)
Anyone who knows Tyler well, knows it is hard to get a serious picture of him. And yes...those ARE his sister's flower print glasses!

Alyssa decided to stop taking naps around a month ago when she discovered how to climb out of her crib on her own.

She, like many two-three year olds, decided she no longer needs naps. (Lovely!) SO, of course when I ask her to take a quiet time, she throws a fit I don't feel is worth the battle. The following picture is proof that, though she doesn't think a good long rest in the afternoon is necessary, her body tends to disagree:

This is how I discovered her when I came home from running a quick errand. (The older children were home doing homework)

The refusal to accept naptime needs has resulted in a few (small exaggerasion)tantrums from time to time (of course these ONLY happen on occassion, NEVER ALL DAY LONG over small meaningless things...

Like taking the camera away, or somebody looking at her wrong, or wanting something that she first told you she didn't want).

Of course not! After all...

She's not tired, and doesn't need a nap. Because. She's TWO, in ALL it's G L O R Y.

(Yeah) Although, I must say. Even though she doesn't need a nap any longer...
She does seem more pleasant when she gets one. (imagine)

What a beautiful girl. Our little Princess Ann. (It's true)

Can you Guess part Two

A few days ago I presented you with a glorious picture of this:
Well, it actually has a companion---if you can believe it:
Lovely.

So after I saw these strange objects around the house, I was relieved to know that they were the result of Jeremy's day at the Scout Rendezvous. Turns out while on the Saturday excursion, my happy go lucky cub scoutin' 9 year old son had some wax dipping fun! Yes folks, these are my new, and glorious

CANDLES.

...I think they'll take awhile to burn. If I can get them into a holder in which to burn them. *sigh* (Yet another item to put on my ever expanding "to do" list.) ;-)

October Read

Are you looking for a deliciously October book to read? I thought so! That's why I'm going to recommend you a book that is a MUST read. If you do or even if you don't read it,  you have to then go rent the movie for a wonderful Halloween week film. I'm telling you! For the month of October, you have GOT to read or watch Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier. Hope I at least have your curiousity peaked!

(Sorry, I tried to get a clearer image.) *sigh*

I'm not gonna tell you all about it myself, but I will say this. I'm reading the book (a choice from book group's book sell this year) AND I have the movie on hold at the Library. (Get ready honey, that is our date night for Friday the 29th.) Oh, I cannot wait!! After you read it and/or see it, let me know what you think. Go ahead and scadoo on over to your library or bookstore. Woo Hoo!

Oh, how I LOVE a good read!

Caution: Read with a bag of your favorite chocolates in a comfy location!

Party at the Patch!

It is becoming a tradition...Justin's friend Ellie celebrating her birthday at Thistledown Farms where the hay maze is windy, the tractor ride is pleasant, and the pumpkins are in abundance. Being a Fall birthday brings much ability to enjoy the fall festivities. We had a great time at the party. We will be buying another pumpkin, however, as Justin and Alyssa pick tiny pumpkins that we really need to paint instead of carve. It will be good to take Jeremy and Michael this week since they are good at picking out great sized carving pumpkins. Can't wait to make a pumpkin recipe, there are SO many great ones to try and just SO little time!! I will be psoting those delicious must haves in due time, as for now...off to the fun:

Petting the donkey...Alyssa tried to feed them. Yeah.

The Hay ride to the patch (aren't they SO adorable?!)

Happy with their "PiCkS" :-D

Me with the BEST two pumpkins EVER. *swak!*

The hayride back...to have cake, ooh hoo hoo!

Sweetie Justin. LOVIN' it!

Alyssa didn't really get a nap because of the time of the party, so here she is deciding it's time to rest. A blissful tired. :) No nap later...CRAZY MoM...we won't get into that right now.

Hilary made the most adorable cupcakes! I wish I had a picture of them. Justin is holding the one that was a ghost. I ate one that had peanut butter cookies made into headstones. Cute!
Ellie got lots of wonderfully girly things. It was a lot of fun, although, I don't think Justin walked away thinking he needed to come play at her house any time soon! lol

Can you Guess?

Yeah. This was sitting on my counter one day when I came home. Imagine my horror:

I was a fraid to touch it, not knowing what it was.

Do you KNOW what this is? I'm curious to see if you do! Post your guesses here and I will tell you who the lucky one that guesses it correctly is in a couple of days.

              Happy Guessing!

Science

I couldn't resist him when Michael came home with the field trip permission slip to the Science Factory and upon showing it to me said, "Mom, can you go?!" Immediately I began racking my brain on the who to calls to watch our 3 adorable little people. I really wanted to do this as I SO loved field trips as a child and the most vivid one in my mind being the one my own Mother came on (thanks Mom!). Immediately I was committed. As the day approached we grew more and more excited and at last, on October 6th, 2010...it was here! The BIG day!!! And, may I say, Not disappointing by ANY means:
Our "group"- (left to right) Andrew, Michael, Riley, Jake
*a quick note if I may--wonderfully FUN group of boys!!

No...I didn't get to wear the space suit. But I DID get to take the fun pictures! Now, if there had been a spaceship involved, I would have been persistent!

For snack, the children got Finding Nemo fruit snacks. Each time they pulled one out of their little pouch, they would name what character was soon to reach his dreaded fate.

Some of the neat exhibits, unfortunately I didn't get Michaels very favorite. Oh well...maybe next time! After all. There will be a next time!

I have to say that this is by far MY favorite exhibit. The Shadow Wall. It is in an enclosed curtain and takes a shot of you as you stand against the wall. When you walk away, it leaves your shadow (as you can see). You can't take a picture with the flash on. Although logical, quickly tried and tested. *eh-hem*

Getting ready to go. Love these guys! (left)

Michael was Taking meditation to a whole new level while we waited for the bus ride home. (middle)

Also a picture with more of the class with their student teacher, Ms. Stark. (right)

The bus ride back to school. Thanks for the fun, guys!

The Zoo

Okay, so we were going to go to the Zoo up in Portland today. It was discount Tuesday and who knows how long we will be enjoying good weather? But as is so often the case, time just wasn't our friend. Instead we decided to improvize and went to the library and to the farm to feed the goats and play on the playground. Great decision! The children had so much fun feeding the animals and on the playground there were so many children their age since there was a day care field trip. When I do things like this with the children, it reminds me of why I love being a mom! The children are so much fun when they are delighted about things.
Well I know you just can't wait to see our goat feeding swingin' good time pictures! SO, on with the show...

The eager goats. They are SO funny!

Justin feeding the goats through a cup connected to a pully. It's amazing how the goats start pulling on the rope to get the cup up so they can eat out of it. What a magnificent idea! Cool, huh?!

Alyssa would hold out the food and then pull back when they would go to lick it out of her hand. Notice her boots...she put them on herself. LOVE THAT!

The children loved the playground. They have been wanting to play on this every time we have gone to pick up food from the farm. I always tell them we will do it "some day". I'm glad "some day" finally came!

Amy did so well in the front pack that I think I will actually do it again some time! Woo Hoo!!

It was a bit chilly and foggy. A PERFECT Fall Day!
(Thank you nice lady for taking the group photo!)

What They Say Wednesday

Are you gonna do a Heat 3,000?

Just wait! This is the predetermined name of an invention that will one day be familiar to all to combat the cold.

The Wand

I was putting on my make-up and
was perplexed
when I went to put on my mascara.

I didn't know whether I should even attempt using the altered wand.

Amazingly, I immediately guessed who the oh so darling culprit could be....

She who loves to play in Mom's make-up, of course!

Didn't they try selling some like this at one point?

...Just wondering.
