What They Say Wednesday

On Sunday night we sat down as a family and watched what was labeled by Bryon and Tyler when they were little, as "Mommy and Daddy get married". It's a video of us when we came out of the temple and then our reception following. Steve had wanted us to watch it together because he realized that none of the little ones (Justin, Alyssa, and Amy) had ever seen it.
That night after the children were all settling down, Amy was in our room talking to us and vocalized her thoughts, "Mommy was pretty and Daddy was handsome, then you grew up and, well, it didn't work out".
We're still laughing. It quickly became one of our catch phrases.

Plopping himself into a kitchen chair after playing in the flour while making sugar cookie cutouts, Justin said with realization:
"Making a mess can actually be fun."

What They Say Wednesday

Alyssa: eating what Michael considered meat that was too raw ( medium rare)
Michael: "Alyssa you're gonna die."

Alyssa: speachlessly looking at Michael, while continuing to chew the delicious meat.
Michael: "You need to make a bucket list!"

Alyssa: Eyeing Michael-expressionless.
Michael: putting one arm around Alyssa's shoulders, "We'll make ours together.

I need one too."
After this senario occured, I realized that I had not made a bucket list either. Ever. In all my 41 years. I've decided it is now time to make one. Cause it's not that I"ve never thought of one, so much as I just have never written it down. SooOooo, here goes:

1. Go hangliding
2. Try a waitressing job
3. Own a salon, or manage one (of choice)
4. Learn to play the guitar
5. Take a ride in a hot air balloon
6. Go on a trip to the orient
7. Go on an Alaskan cruise
8. Work at a fast food joint for at least two weeks
9. Go back for a nursing degree...or some degree
10. Sing a solo in church
11. Learn a 3rd language (german?!)
12. be in a play or musical
13. be on the radio with a D.J.
14. Be hired for decorating jobs

..........................

Pretty big list....
                                                   ...................SOME DAY!

What They say Wednesday

after trying a food he decided he didn't like, Michael asked what was in it. After telling him, he proclaimed, "that could kill somebody. Don't give it to Amy."

{Dripping with sarcasm}-'Awww, how endearing, don't you love how concerned they are for their little siblings?

"I want to buy on Tuesday because on Wednesday they have pizza and I found out their cheese is edible rubber."
Ewwwww! Things must not have changed much, huh?

What They Say Wednesday

While the roofers have been feverishly working on top of our house (approximately 10 or so of them), I was reading stories to the children when Justin broke in and said, "I thought they are here to slam our house in pieces!"

I truly appreciate those sentiments. Beacause it did sound like the house would split in half,

We went to Papa's pizza for lunch. *sigh*

Michael: "I'm practicing my Bambi eyes."
Mom: "Who told you you have Bambi eyes?"
Michael: "No one, that's why I have to practice."

The other day as we were driving to the community pool, Jeremy said in an amused and enthusiastic voice,
"oooH, a flying hair. Those are rare."

His friend and I got a great laugh out of that. It's such a breath of fresh air to have somebody so easily amused and optamistic.

I think that is a gift.
He's always been a great joy.

A member of our family

Wouldn't you say it's an official thing that the first name the baby can say is a member of the family?

Then it's settled. Welcome to our family Dora the Explorer, Alyssa will be so forever thrilled!

What they say Wednesday

Sunday Justin raised quite a fit about leaving for church. He threw a tantrum and sat in his room refusing to get dressed. Stripped down to his underwear and folding his arms across his chest, he proclaimed that he was "not going to church". Grabbing the remains of what we needed to finish getting Alyssa and Amy ready to walk out the door, we told him good-bye in a natural, "it's your decision" kind of way.

As I was coming out of my room ready to leave, He grabbed me and began to sob. He then stated, "Mommy, I'm sorry. Sometimes I just don't want to leave my toys. I'm sorry I wasn't nice to you."

I expressed my understanding and explained how things would be waiting for him when he got back since no one else would be home to take or move them. He smiled at me and gave me a big hug.
Who couldn't forgive this sweet boy? Let's just say he wrapped me around his little finger.
                                                                 One more time.

What they say Wednesday

"If Dad was never invented, Mom would've married Michael Jackson"---
 Truly?
I wonder how that would've come about. ???

 Maybe he hopes?
Who knows where ideas like this come from in these cute little heads.
I'm just glad Dad WAS "invented".

Bryon (to Alyssa)- "Okay, Knock-knock?"

Alyssa- "You can't come in".

We love a good Knock-knock joke!

What they say Wednesday

In the car one day on the way to the store, Justin said,---

"Me love Jesus beacause Him made airplanes and birds and everything in this whole entire beautiful Earth.

                                                                                                                       Me love Him."

What they say Wednesday

While watching Beauty and the Beast with Tyler the other night upon seeing Belle in her beautiful gown, Alyssa said, "Ohhh, pretty dress! Me like pretty dresses."

And to think I've fought the Disney Princess propoganda since the day she was born. Now that she's exposed, I'll just enjoy every bit of her awe and enthusiasm. This is why they say, "but you need to
experience a girl."

And I'm glad that I am.
