Alyssa- "Mommy, I wanna do 'knock- knock'."

Bryon (to Alyssa)- "Okay, Knock-knock?"

Alyssa- "You can't come in".

Mommy tip Tuesday

This week with all the running about getting ready for summer and the kids being out of school, I have decided that the tip of the day would have to be time management. Every morning I wake up with a load of ambition and a list of "to-dos" that could be very daunting. The blessing I've enjoyed lately is that of slowing down and taking the time to meditate through enjoying my children. I get so caught up in the busyness, that I tend to want to put them off. But I find that the gift of having children is taking time out to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. The blessings my life is so abundant with.
{I apologize for the quality of this photo, but the subject was too hard to resist ;)}

I'm grateful that my Heavenly Father knew me well enough to know that I needed these blessings. Each and every ONE.

What they say Wednesday

In the car one day on the way to the store, Justin said,---

"Me love Jesus beacause Him made airplanes and birds and everything in this whole entire beautiful Earth.

                                                                                                                       Me love Him."

Mommy tip Tuesday-menu planning

Every Monday (hopefully Sunday night) I make a meal menu using a calendar I found on Hallmark Card Studio Special Edition. I love this program and use it for everything! When I decide to surpass the menu, or I'm just too busy to sit down and type it out, it isn't only tragic for me, but it is scandalous for the whole family! All I hear are things like, "Mom, where is the menu?!",  "wait, what are we having tonight...I don't see a menu",  "I really like it when you make a menu, then we know what we are having for dinner". Everyone has come to rely on this menu and apparently look forward to it. If I decide to make another scandalous decision and change the meal of the night, I get comments like, "oh! I was looking forward to having ______!" But the truth of the matter is, I started the menu for me. When 4 o'clock rolls around, I am no longer scanning the fridge and cupboards in a frenzy trying to figure out what I have on hand and what I can pull together in an hour's time to feed the 8 starving mouths that I'm responsible for. I have come to really appreciate the planning ahead so that I can be more organized in my grocery shopping and meal preparations. Here is an example of this weeks menu:

Sunday: Pork roast Sunday dinner
Monday: Hamburgers
Tuesday: Chicken Broccoli Couscous and Garden Salad
Wednesday: Lasagna with Garlic Toast and Italian Salad
Thursday: Leftover Lover's
Friday: Pizza and a Movie (Michael's choice)
Saturday: Chef's Choice (usually something simple, a picnic, or a bbq)
So...there is my WISE Mommy tip of the week.  ;)

Bon Appetit!!

What they say Wednesday

While watching Beauty and the Beast with Tyler the other night upon seeing Belle in her beautiful gown, Alyssa said, "Ohhh, pretty dress! Me like pretty dresses."

And to think I've fought the Disney Princess propoganda since the day she was born. Now that she's exposed, I'll just enjoy every bit of her awe and enthusiasm. This is why they say, "but you need to
experience a girl."

And I'm glad that I am.

One year gone by

How is it possible that a whole year has gone by? Has it really been that long that this little angel has been a part of our lives? Wedged her sweet self into our hearts so thouroughly that life without her is unimagineable, would be unbearable, and truly devistating? What a sweet blessing. Thank you Heavenly Father for entrusting us with this precious gift. Amy Nicole.
